12 Iconic Hotels in NYC – NY, USA

Photo: Maria Gustafsson – Sunset from the Empire State Building

So I have to confess that I’ve sort of avoided NYC up to this point, not because it isn’t an amazing city, but because to choose only a handful of hotels or so it exceedingly difficult. NY, much like Paris & London could have dozens of listings.

However, that would be defeating the purpose of this blog. To help you narrow it down. If I list too many you may as well just google it, and as we know that’s just overwhelming and not helpful. My list includes hotels that are historically iconic and new on the scene (meaning 21st Century), either way they’ve made their mark on the luxury hotel scene.

So I’m going to focus on Midtown Manhattan with a few of note, towards Lower Manhattan, but for the most part the good hotels are found in Midtown and surrounding the outer edges of Central Park.

And when I return to NY (which I will), I’ll probably choose to stay in this area myself, simply because it’s convenient to everything you want to see and do!

As always they are in no particular order, and I’ve tried to give you a variety of styles; from the classic Carlton and The Plaza, to the more modern icons of style.

If you’re looking for group bookings, contact to me and I’ll work with my contacts to put together an amazing package for you.

DO NOT FORGET – If you’re getting married, or renewing your vows, you will need a Marriage license and a justice of the peace, minister, officiant to make it all happen. Double check with your countries consulate general to ensure that the marriage is recognized in your home country.

NYC is one of our favorites! We have not stayed at any of these, but we did stay in the Trump Towers once and LOVED it!

    • Maria | 13th Jan 20

I think I’d go there more often if I didn’t live so far away. Takes me just as long to get there with more hassles, than it does to fly directly to London or Paris!

  21. Melissa Jones | 13th Jan 20

Those are beautiful and amazing hotels and pictures!

  22. Lisa | 13th Jan 20

So many beautiful hotels! Never been to NYC but saving this for when I do… I’ve always dreamed of staying at the Plaza. The Baccarat looks amazing too!

  24. Jennifer | 28th Jan 20

    Thanks for sharing. Amazing hotels.

  25. judean | 28th Jan 20

The only hotels mentioned that I have been too (not stayed at because $$) are the Waldorf Astoria and The Plaza. I also find that hotels change names often so the others I don’t recognize from visiting NYC every year while in college.

    • Maria | 29th Jan 20

Most of these hotels are 5* hotels and have been around for upward of 50-100 years, I find that when we aren’t looking for something, we don’t see it or think of it.

  26. Brianna | 1st Feb 20

These hotels all look fabulous! It would be hard to choose
