Canada From Coast to Coast – The Yukon

Well today I’m going to talk about the Yukon, so we’re still on the Western side of the country. The Yukon shares its western border with Alaska, and the landscape, terrain is wild and mountainous with more land than people. The first thing I think when I think of the Yukon is the Aurora Borealis also known as the Northern Lights, the wonder of it! Imagine getting to watch the sky dance! So the slogan for the Yukon is “Larger Than Life”, and really it does seem appropriate! You can get there by plane or boat, but most people road-trip….

Canada From Coast to Coast – The Gulf Islands, BC.

I’m still in BC I realize that, but it’s a big province with a lot to do and experience. And frankly this group of posts would be incomplete if I didn’t dedicate a post to our gulf islands and ferry routes. The Gulf Islands comprise of 15 islands, plus numerous small islets and reef areas. The forested Gulf Islands include Mayne, Galiano, Hornby, and Gabriola. The largest is Salt Spring, famed for its locavore-minded farmers, artisan producers, and organic vineyards. Wildlife, nature, coastal activities. For more details and information on the Gulf Island check out https://gulfislandstourism.com/ All the Islands I’m…

Canada from Coast to Coast – British Columbia

It’s been a while since I wrote a post, I confess I didn’t see the point for the last few months, plus I had knee replacement surgery and sitting and writing comfortably for any period of time wasn’t really optional for me. But now I’m back, I’ve decided to focus on Canada, province by province for the next few posts, well actually the next ten or so posts. Some will have more info than others, because some places have more to offer than others; which means, I’ll probably even combine a few of the provinces, like Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba….

12 “camps” to stay at when on an African Safari!

This post ties in with my “African Safaris – the Trip of a Lifetime” post and is basically part two; I’m not going to go into lot’s of detail, but rather I’m going to give you a pictorial view of what it’s like to go on safari in style. I’ll be listing them in the same order as the partner post to keep things easy. When I say “camps”, know that I’m not talking about roughing it, though you can do that, it doesn’t mean sleeping in a tent in a sleeping bag on the ground, hoping something creepy crawly…

Travelling Solo. Why I Do, and Why You Should Too!

I’ve been sharing a lot of beautiful destinations and even more beautiful hotels, cruise ships and resorts for months now, and that is truly something I love researching and sharing. And if you’ve read some of my earlier posts, by now you’ll know that I’m a solo traveller, and that it’s really how I prefer to travel. However, I have had both positive and negative experiences, with friends. My only advice is make sure you are both truly on the same page, meaning if you want to go and do something they aren’t interested in, that they will be okay…

African Safaris – the Trip of a Lifetime.

Well here we are again, this time I’m going to cover Africa, and we’re going to cover adventure holidays. I think that an African safari qualifies as one of those lifetime events. We may return to our favourite cities like Paris or New York, but for most this is a once in a lifetime trip. Whether you’re on Safari in Africa, seeing the Galapagos, watching the northern lights, sailing down the Nile on an archeological tour or experiencing the Antarctic via an expedition ship, you don’t have to rough it to experience any of it! So let’s talk African Safaris…
